On the 31 of july 2001 in Turin was constituted the Promoting Committee for the scientific research and the care of the inflammatory bowel diseases.

It’s the first case in Italy of an Onlus Foundation which aim is the promoting of the research , the improvement of the clinical experience , the diffusion of new kind of investigations and the training in the inflammatory bowel diseases’ domain.

The Promoting Committee is the result of the effort of some eminent figures in the domain of the assistance of the gastroenterological diseases in Piemonte:
 

• Dr. Angelo Pera, ASO Ordine Mauriziano di Torino’s Gastroenterology and the Candiolo’s I.R.C.C.
• Prof. Mario Rizzetto, director of the U.O.A.D.U. of Gastroepatology in the Molinette di Torino Hospital and director of the chair of Gastroenterology in the “Università degli Studi of Torino”
• Prof. Giorgio Verme, Gastroenterology top clinician
• Mrs Laura Bellino, president of the A.M.I.C.I. Piemonte association (Inflammatory Bowel Diseases’ Association )

Next these figures more involved in the assistance and help of IBD patients also others figures, that came from different areas, were part of the Promoting Committee:

• Prof. Emilia Clara Bergoglio, at that time President of the “Ordine Mauriziano di Torino”
• Avv. Emilio Lombardi, auditor of the “Mauriziano di Torino”
• Ing. Alberto Tazzetti, president of the “Unione Industriale di Torino”
• Avv. Gian Paolo Zanetta, ex Director of the “Ordine Mauriziano di Torino”

Since the beginning the Promoting Committee worked in order to develop ,promote and finance research , formation and assistance projects connected to the IBD.

Until now three project with a great impact and economical engagement were developped and financiated by private citizens and authorities and they are illustrated in the link section.

On the 19 of July 2005 , at the end of a long career that permitted the obtaining of an adequate capital, the drafting of the association statute’s and the changeover of title from Promoting Commitee to Foundation, was established in Turin the first IBD Onlus FOUNDATION in Italy.

The foundation represents the expression of the efforts and the creativity of different people and authorities:

• Dr. Angelo Pera, representing the Gastroenterology of the Ordine Mauriziano di Torino
• Il Prof. Mario Rizzetto, representing the Gastroepatology of the Molinette Hospital of Torino e and the “Università degli Studi di Torino”
• The A.M.I.C.I. Piemonte asssociation , rappresented by his president , Mrs Laura Bellino
• The Unione Industriale di Torino, rappresentated by his president Ing. Alberto Tazzetti

With the support of the scientific association A.I.G.O. (Italian association of hospitals gastroenterologists and endoscopist) the IBD Onlus foundation obtained, after her establishment, the inscription in the Onlus Foundations register, and is going to be recognized by the Regione Piemonte.
